Muhammadkutty Ismail Panaparambil, known as Mammootty, is an Indian film actor, producer, philanthropist and cultural icon best known for his work in Malayalam cinema. He has also acted in a few Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada films
He is popular in film industry through his most memorable characters.He has been awarded the National Film Award for Best Actor three times. He has also won five Kerala State Film Awards and eleven Filmfare Awards. He was the first (1998) Malayali actor to be honoured with the Padma Shri for his contributions towards the arts.
